Have a Question?

We have the answers!

What tax incentives are available?

The Federal Residential Energy Efficiency Property Credit provides a tax credit equal to 30% of your solar system cost. IRS Link

Florida’s tax exemption for solar does not only exempt sales tax on solar equipment, it also provides a property tax exemption.  The solar system’s newly added value to your home can not be used to increase the property tax. Florida Link

What happens if there are leaves or debris on the panels?

What is the sales process? What can I expect?

Research:

The first step is to do your research and learn about the products and the tax benefits.  Find out what the cost of the system will be and determine if you would need financing.

Home Visit:

When your research is complete and you are ready to go solar, contact Gulf Electrical Solar to schedule a free in-home consultation visit.  We need to look at the home and confirm all of the assumptions.  We will provide a written agreement and review possible install dates.  In exchange for a discounted rate, we ask our customers to be flexible with scheduling. We may call you with as little as a day’s notice if a slot opened up in our schedule.  Gulf Electrical Solar will handle all aspects of the job from permitting to final commissioning.  On the day of install, our team will review our installation program, ensure the site is kept clean, and make sure you are well informed at completion with your new system.

Freedom:

Now that your home is powered by the sun, it is time to reap the return on your investment and enjoy energy independence!

Solar panels convert sunshine into power, so if your panels are covered by debris, they can not produce electricity. Vegetation is generally not heavy enough to cause structural issues with your panels, and since most panels are tilted at an angle, most debris will slide off. However, excess pollen, dirt, sand, or vegetation debris can impact the performance of your system.  Utilizing our System Service Contracts is a good way to have routine maintenance provided without the hassle of getting on the roof.  Our team will clean and service the system to ensure optimal efficiency.

How long does a solar system last?

Do solar panels provide power during a blackout or natural disaster?

If your solar panel system is connected to the grid, it will shut off in the event of a blackout. This is to prevent emergency responders and electricity utility repair-people from being injured by your panels sending power back to the grid. However, there are certain inverters you can buy that provide backup power in a blackout when paired with a battery.  Our company offers a wide range of equipment including generators, inverters, batteries, and more.  Mention to our team to help identify the perfect solution for your home.

In general, solar panels are very durable and capable of withstanding nature elements including snow, wind, and hail. The various components of your solar power system will need to be replaced at different times, but your system should continue to generate electricity for 25 to 35 years.
